Brewing Stand & Base Ingredients
Brewing stand: 3 cobblestone+1 blaze rod (rods from nether blazes). Put water bottles on top, blaze powder as fuel. Brewing process: base material = awkward potion + secondary material = effect potion + modifier (glowstone/redstone/gunpowder/dragon breath).
Every potion starts the same way: water bottles plus nether wart, which produces an awkward potion that does nothing on its own. Only then does the effect ingredient go in, and only finished potions can take a modifier. Redstone extends duration, glowstone raises the level at the cost of duration, and a fermented spider eye flips the effect to its opposite — and since glowstone and redstone are mutually exclusive, you always have to pick one direction.
Positive Effect Potion Recipes
Speed (sugar, +20% speed), Jump Boost (rabbit foot, +0.5 blocks), Strength (blaze powder, +3 hearts melee), Regeneration (ghast tear, +1 heart/2.5s), Fire Resistance (magma cream, immune to fire), Water Breathing (pufferfish, no oxygen drain), Night Vision (golden carrot, see in darkness), Slow Falling (phantom membrane, no fall damage).
One brewing operation handles up to 3 bottles. Efficiency: stock a chest of water bottles (right-click water source with glass bottles). Brew 3 at a time: first nether wart -> 3 awkward potions, then material -> 3 effect potions. For splash: add gunpowder last. Full automation uses hopper chains + droppers + brewing stand redstone control.
