Release Date Confirmed
Mojang confirmed on its blog that Java 1.22.2 launches globally on September 16. It merges all experimental content from snapshots 25w34a and 25w35a, plus all hotfixes from 1.22.1. This is the final minor release in the 1.22 series — after which Mojang shifts focus to the major 1.23 update.
What's Included
1.22.2 brings three core changes: 1) Completed bamboo building set — bamboo stairs, fences, doors, signs, trapdoors, and the 'Bamboo Mosaic' decorative block. 2) Biome-based villager enchanted book trades — swamp villagers sell Mending, jungle sell Efficiency, plains sell Protection; the 'endlessly refresh one trading hall' strategy ends. 3) Cherry grove petal particle performance optimization for higher FPS in cherry areas.
Upgrade Tips
Before the release, do two things: stock up on enchanted books (especially Mending and Efficiency) while the old trading system still applies, and back up your main world — Mojang promises full compatibility, but backing up before a version switch is always wise. The Bedrock counterpart (1.22.2) is expected late September.
