The Chase
After CakeFrog broke the 7-minute barrier with 6m58s, the speedrun community entered a new arms race. Several top runners publicly announced their assault on 6m50s: Illumina (former WR holder) streamed 30 hours straight, Fruitberries formed a 'training camp' recruiting practice partners, joined by runners from Japan and Korea. New runs near 6m55s are submitted to speedrun.com daily, but no one has cracked 6m50s yet.
New Strategy Frontiers
This wave of attempts centers on 1.22's new content: gold blocks in archaeology sites provide early resources, dense cherry villages improve spawn quality, and villager trading accelerates ender pearl acquisition. The community has mapped out several optimizable points in the current meta — Nether route stability and End fight error tolerance.
| Time | Runner | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aug 2026 | CakeFrog | 6m58s | Current WR |
| Jun 2026 | DreamX | 7m12s | Held ~2 months |
| Oct 2025 | — | 7m43s | Held ~8 months |
Theoretical Limits
Community analysis puts the Random Seed Glitchless theoretical limit around 5m30s — assuming a 'perfect world': cherry village spawn, bastion adjacent to the Nether portal, optimal End altar layout. 6m50s is within reach for top runners but still requires luck and flawless execution. The next major event (the MC Summer Speedrun Fest in late August) may produce the new record.
