Ancient City Loot

Ancient Cities are the highest-value underground structure since 1.19: echo shards (recovery compass), Swift Sneak III enchanted books (city-exclusive), enchanted golden apples, disc 5 (the only source in the game), and piles of sculk decor blocks. On Bedrock the city chest pool skews even more toward enchanted books and saddles — great value.

Warning: Disc 5 only spawns in the 'loot chest' — the one flanked by redstone torches and a hopper. Don't miss it.

Warden Avoidance Route

Golden rule: sneak (Shift) the whole way — no sprinting, jumping or fall damage. Plan: ① approach the city's outer ring hugging walls to avoid sculk sensors; ② freeze the moment you hear a heartbeat — that's a shrieker warning; ③ three triggers from the same shrieker summons the Warden, so reroute after two; ④ carry 10+ snowballs and wool — throw snowballs to bait sonic booms elsewhere, and lay wool to muffle your steps.

Warning: Don't fight the Warden (500 HP). Stand still and it burrows away in ~30–60 seconds.

Loot & Exit Checklist

Grab priority: ① Swift Sneak books (once equipped you barely trigger sensors — exploration gets safer the more you loot); ② 3+ echo shards for a recovery compass; ③ enchanted golden apples for boss emergencies; ④ disc 5. Exit the way you came and leave your marking torches in place. Bedrock cities are fairly compact — 15–20 minutes per run is plenty.

Warning: A recovery compass points to the structure where you last bound it — bind once at the city entrance so you can always retrace.
