What is the Wither?

The Wither is Minecraft's second boss, summoned by the player. Summoning: place soul sand/soil in a T-shape (3 base + 1 center top), then place 3 wither skeleton skulls on top. The Wither has a 3-second charge-up before a massive explosion. HP: 300 hearts (Java). Two phases — Phase 1: flies and shoots explosive skulls. Phase 2 (half HP): gains Wither Armor (immune to arrows).

Method 1: Underground Tunnel (Iron Gear)

For modest gear. Dig a 2x1 tunnel at Y=-58 (50+ blocks long). Build the summoning structure at the far end, then shoot arrows from the opposite end. The tunnel restricts the Wither's movement. Phase 1: bow from distance. Phase 2: switch to sword. This is the safest method for beginners.

Method 2: End Portal Trap (Diamond)

Summon the Wither beneath the End's central bedrock portal. The Wither's head gets stuck in bedrock — completely immobile. Shoot from a safe distance until dead. Near-zero risk. Recommended for all players.

Method 3: Bedrock Ceiling (Safest)

Use the Nether bedrock ceiling at Y=127. Find a natural 3x3 bedrock cavity, summon the Wither inside. Completely trapped in bedrock, zero movement. Kill with melee in ~30 seconds. Fastest method. Requires ender pearl glitching technique to reach bedrock ceiling.

Loot & Nether Star Uses

Killing the Wither drops 1 Nether Star (100%). Use it to craft a Beacon (5 glass+3 obsidian+1 nether star). Beacons provide area effects: Speed, Haste (mining boost), Resistance, Jump Boost, Strength, Regeneration. Requires a pyramid base (iron/gold/diamond/emerald/netherite blocks). More layers = larger range + more effects.
