1.21 Ore Distribution Changes
Since 1.18, world height expanded from Y=0~256 to Y=-64~320. Ores distribute across wider ranges with specific peaks. In 1.21: Diamonds peak at Y=-58, Coal at Y=96, Iron has dual peaks at Y=16 and Y=232 (mountains).

Best Mining Methods
Branch mining: dig a 2-high main tunnel at optimal Y, create 1x2 side tunnels every 3 blocks spaced 3 apart. Efficiency: ~8-12 diamond ore per 100 blocks. Always carry a water bucket for lava at Y=-58.
Enchantment Impact on Mining
Fortune III increases diamond drops from 1 to ~2.2 average (max 4). Silk Touch lets you collect ore blocks to mine later with Fortune. Efficiency V dramatically speeds up mining. Best combo: Fortune III + Efficiency V + Mending + Unbreaking III on a diamond pickaxe.
