Where to Mine Ancient Debris
Ancient debris is the only source of netherite, spawning only in the Nether. Best height: Y=15 (Y=8-22 works, 15 is peak). Distribution: 1-3 per vein, ~1.7 per chunk average. Must use a diamond or netherite pickaxe (otherwise no drop). It never exposes naturally — usually buried in lava or netherrack. Mine a horizontal tunnel at Y=15 for efficiency.
Bed Mining Method (Most Efficient)
Beds explode in the Nether (same as TNT) and are cheap (3 wool + 3 planks) — perfect for debris mining. Method: 1) Dig a 2-high horizontal tunnel at Y=15. 2) Every 8-10 blocks, place a bed and right-click to detonate. 3) Explosions clear large areas of netherrack, exposing dark ancient debris (blast-resistant). 4) Collect debris, block off remaining lava. Safety: put a block between you and the bed before detonating, and carry fire resistance potions.
Crafting & Upgrading
Netherite ingot: smelt 4 ancient debris into 4 netherite scraps, then combine scraps + 4 gold ingots = 1 netherite ingot. Upgrade: use a Smithing Table to combine diamond gear + 1 netherite ingot into netherite gear. Upgrades keep all enchantments, and netherite gear won't burn in lava like diamond.
Netherite Gear Advantages
Netherite is the strongest material: 1) Far higher durability than diamond. 2) Fire resistance — immune to lava burning. 3) Knockback resistance — full netherite armor greatly reduces knockback. 4) Expensive: a full set needs 24 debris + 24 gold ingots. Upgrade priority: sword/pickaxe > armor > other tools.
