Pre-Release Contents
The snapshot phase has ended with 1.22.2 Pre-Release 1. This build is stability-focused: fixes for bamboo mosaic texture seams, biome trade pools occasionally scrambling after villager profession resets, and cherry petal particle rendering crashes on low-end devices. No new content — features were frozen at 25w35a.
Pre-Release vs Snapshot
A pre-release is the final testing stage: content frozen, bug fixes only, near-final code. Unlike snapshots, pre-releases usually allow direct upgrades of existing test worlds with notably lower crash rates. If you've been following snapshots, migrate your test world now for final validation ahead of launch.
Release Cadence
By convention, expect 2-3 more pre-releases (roughly weekly) plus one release candidate before September 16, with the Bedrock counterpart the same week. If you haven't tried the new trading mechanics, test your biome villager layouts in the pre-release now — migration to the official build will be seamless.
