RC1 Fixes

The pre-release phase has wrapped up with 1.22.2 Release Candidate 1. This build carries only three fixes: biome enchantment-book trades occasionally locking after villager conversion, bamboo mosaic lighting artifacts at certain orientations, and ender pearl portal-edge behavior reverting to 1.22.1 rules. No new content — and if no critical bugs surface, RC1 becomes the September 16 release as-is.

RC vs Pre-Release

A release candidate is a build 'eligible to graduate': features and code fully frozen, only critical fixes accepted. If RC1 runs a week clean, Mojang typically skips RC2 and stamps it as the official release. Whatever you test in RC1 today is what every player gets on launch day.

Pre-Launch Checklist

Three things before launch: 1) Back up your worlds — always copy your saves before a version bump; modded players should note Fabric/Forge ports usually lag 2-4 weeks. 2) Stress-test your trading hall — biome-based enchantment books are the biggest change, and all-plains halls will drop sharply in value; plan swamp/jungle villager wings now. 3) Watch Bedrock sync — the Bedrock update lands the same week, so cross-platform players can plan for both.

Warning: The Java launcher auto-updates on September 16 — no manual download needed. Modded players, however, should hold off until major mods are ported.
