1.22 Village Changes

1.22 refined village generation in two ways: plains village farms are tidier (large fields + new irrigation channels), and snowy villages gained a smoker hut. Blacksmith loot was buffed — iron armor sets and extra ingots now appear more often. Average iron yield per smithy is ~20% higher than 1.21, perfect for rushing diamond gear.

Warning: 1.22 blacksmith chests can roll a full iron armor set — wear it straight away and skip mining iron.

Opening Route

Take seed #1 522091464: grab 3 stacks of logs from nearby woods, head to the triple village at X:80 Z:-120, loot two smithies (8–14 iron + food expected), turn village wheat into bread, then set up starter trades with the fletcher/toolsmith. With iron gear done, follow the mining-levels guide to Y=-58 for diamonds.

Warning: Reroll your librarian for Mending before locking the profession — the single best long-term trade.

Version Compatibility

All five seeds tested on Java 1.22. Core village layouts match between 1.21–1.22, so they work there too; but on 1.20 or earlier the different terrain algorithm shifts everything. Bedrock players need Bedrock-specific seeds — the same code generates unrelated terrain on each edition.

Warning: When using older seeds across major versions, villages can spawn hundreds of blocks off the listed coords — scout, don't tunnel blindly.
