What Makes Badlands Special
Badlands (Mesa) is the only biome with surface-level gold — ores generate at any height from Y=32 to Y=256, minable with an iron pick. The biome also specializes in 16 terracotta colors and red sand: terracotta smelts into glazed terracotta fodder, red sand into red glass. For colorful builders, badlands is a natural materials warehouse.

Gold & Harvest Route
① craft one stone + one iron pick; ② push sideways along canyon walls, mining any exposed gold (found above Y=32 here); ③ shovel red sand, mind the cliff edges; ④ terracotta mines fast with any pick — about a stack per minute; ⑤ in seed #4 goldcanyon's exposed mineshaft, minecart chests often hold ingots and bread. Typical 30-minute haul: 30+ gold ingots, 5–8 stacks terracotta, 3 stacks red sand.
Canyon Build Ideas
Badlands is a stage made for earth-tone builds: ① orange-red terracotta + smooth sandstone western town (fences + lanterns); ② white terracotta + quartz Mediterranean look (seed #3's dual-tone terrain is ideal); ③ carve a cliff hotel straight into the canyon wall — every window faces a view. Glazed terracotta takes an extra smelt-and-dye step, but the results photograph beautifully.
