Oak: light brown (most common, neutral). Birch: cream/white (clean modern). Spruce: dark brown (medieval castles). Jungle: warm orange-brown (tropical). Dark Oak: deep chocolate (modern, darkest). Acacia: orange-red (Sahara/desert). Mangrove: deep reddish brown (swamp/underwater). Cherry: pink (1.20 new, romantic).
Plank Recipes
Sticks (2 planks=4 sticks), crafting table (4 planks), chest (8 planks), wooden slabs/stairs/fences/trapdoors. Different wood = matching textures — mix for variety. Example: birch floors + dark oak furniture + spruce roof = classic Nordic cabin.
Uses of Planks
Planks are the backbone of both building and crafting: crafting tables, chests, boats, bowls, doors, fences, slabs, stairs, buttons and pressure plates all start here. There are 10 plank types in 1.22, each with its own colour and grain — the core of any builder's palette.
Choosing & Fire Resistance
Crimson and warped planks come from the Nether and are fireproof, ideal for Nether bases and around fireplaces. Bamboo planks are new in 1.22; bamboo grows extremely fast and can be mass-produced with bone meal, making it the cheapest fuel and building source. Cherry planks suit Japanese-style and garden builds.
