The Run: One Seed, Zero Restarts
Nia's record run used a single seed: a blind pick opening with village + shipwreck, iron tools by 90 seconds; then a straight nether highway to the stronghold — when no pearls dropped, Nia pivoted to the trading route, bulk-buying ender pearls from a village fletcher. The dragon fight used the bedhead first-hit bed strategy with no deaths on tape. Final time 6:46.2, 0.8s under the old record.
Why Blind-Pick Owns 2026
Unlike old-school seed-resetting, blind-pick runs take whatever seed spawns and lean on decision-making — shorter single-run times and far better stream content. The record timeline shows the inflection:
| Date | Record | Runner | Route |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2026 | 6:58 | CubeRunner | Seed reset + classic beds |
| Aug 22, 2026 | 6:49 | CakeFrog | Blind pick + pearl trading |
| Sep 8, 2026 | 6:47 | Vex | Blind pick + stronghold rush |
| Sep 15, 2026 | 6:46 | Nia | Blind pick + bedhead kill |
Next Target: 6:40
Community analysis puts the blind-pick theoretical limit at 6:38-6:42, bottlenecked by stronghold-location variance. In her post-run interview, Nia set a goal of 'sub-6:40 before I turn 18', and Vex has announced a live attempt at October's marathon event.
