1 iron ingot + 1 flint (diagonal or adjacent) = 1 flint and steel. Core uses: activate nether portals (right-click inside frame), ignite TNT and blocks. ~65 uses.

Core Uses

Flint and steel lights Nether portal frames, starts campfires, ignites TNT, and lights candles. It has 64 durability, one use per ignition.

Cautions

Fire lit outdoors in rain extinguishes instantly — light it under cover. To open a portal, right-click the inside of the frame. In the Nether, igniting the floor creates fire walls that deter most mobs except piglins.
