Crafting Recipe

3 cobblestone on top, redstone + redstone + nether quartz in the middle, 3 cobblestone on the bottom = 1 observer. The face (detecting side) points toward you when placed.

How It Works

The face watches the block directly in front for ANY block update (placed, broken, state change, crop growth) and fires a ~2 game-tick pulse out of its back. It reacts to block updates, not visual changes — plenty of invisible state changes trigger it too.

Practical Uses

The sensing core of fully automatic sugarcane and bamboo farms; a BUD-block replacement; detection for slime-block flying machines. Observers can chain-trigger each other — space and shield them when stacking.
