Crafting Recipe

1 redstone torch top-center, 2 torches flanking 1 nether quartz in the middle row, 3 stone on the bottom = 1 comparator.

Three Modes

Default compare mode: outputs the back signal if it's ≥ the stronger side input. Right-click for subtraction mode (front torch lights): output = back − side. The third mode is the workhorse: placed against a container it converts fill level into a 0–15 signal — fuller chest, stronger signal.

Practical Uses

Read fill levels for restock/full-stop logic; detect whether a hopper holds anything (signal 1 = non-empty); combine with daylight sensors and repeaters for precise 1-tick timing. Item frames, shulker boxes and more are readable too.
